Transform Your Smile with Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic treatment offers more than just straight teeth and a more symmetrical smile. It can also improve bite alignment, correct dental function, and address facial imbalances. With properly aligned teeth, daily oral hygiene can become more effective and you may even experience increased confidence.
At Hunter & King Dentistry, we use 3D scanning technology to create precise treatment plans without the need for goopy impression materials. Whether you prefer traditional metal braces, discreet ceramic options, or clear SureSmile aligners, we customize our approach to match your specific needs and lifestyle.
Your Orthodontic Journey, Reimagined
We want our patients to experience orthodontics differently. At Hunter & King Dentistry, our goal is to collaborate with our patients to help them achieve the healthy, aesthetically pleasing smile they will be proud to show off.
The first step on your journey is to scheduling a consultation. During your first appointment, we will address your concerns regarding your smile and discuss all available treatment options to help you feel confident with our recommendations.
The Treatment Process
Every smile is unique, which means that no two orthodontic treatment plans are the same. Your treatment plan will be tailored to the specific needs we identify during the planning process.
-
ACTIVE PHASE
While you are receiving your orthodontic treatment with braces, you'll come to our office for regular adjustment appointments (typically every three weeks or so). Elastics and/or wires will be adjusted during these appointments.
During braces treatment, you'll also need to avoid certain foods if you are wearing braces. Continue your excellent dental hygiene practices and keep up with at-home care to ensure you stay on track with treatment and ensure your teeth are straightened as scheduled.
If you are being treated with clear aligners, you will visit our office periodically for checkups so we can ensure that your treatment is on track. You will also need to brush and floss your teeth before returning your clear aligners to your mouth after eating. You will switch out your aligners to the next set in your series based on the schedule provided by your dentist.
Specific instructions based on your orthodontic treatment will be provided to you. Bring any questions or concerns you may have to your appointments. We can help you understand the treatment process.
-
PLANNING PHASE
In the planning phase of orthodontic treatment, we review your unique needs in detail and set up a plan for treatment with braces or SureSmile Clear Aligners.
Your first appointments may include:- An evaluation of your medical and dental history
- Taking "molds" or impressions of your teeth
- X-Rays of the teeth and jaws
- A CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scan
After these preliminary steps are completed, we will then design your treatment plan customized for your orthodontics of choice: braces or custom-made SureSmile Clear Aligners.
-
RETENTION PHASE
Once you've completed active treatment with braces or clear aligners, you will move into a post-treatment phase with retainers.
Typically, removable retainers help to maintain the changes we made to the positioning of your teeth during active treatment.
You'll need to wear your retainer as directed by your dentist to help stabilize your teeth in their new positions while the surrounding bone regrows and stabilizes.
The duration of your treatment time with braces or clear aligners and a retainer will vary depending on your specific circumstances and factors.
Orthodontics for Children
We recommend that all children have their first orthodontic checkup by they turn seven. Early detection can help address or plan for orthodontic problems.
If your child does not require early treatment, we will monitor their growth and development regularly as part of our recall program. This careful observation allows us to advise you on the best time for your child to begin treatment.
For Our Adult Patients
There is no age limit for a straight and healthy smile. In recent years, orthodontic treatment has gained significant popularity among adults.
If you have previously considered orthodontic treatment but did not pursue it because you weren't sold on traditional braces, book an appointment to see if you are a candidate for SureSmile clear aligners. These aligners are made with a clear material for a more discreet approach to orthodontic treatment.
